WHERE: Roman & Sofia’s Trailer WHO: @sirensofia
Utter shit, it was what his life turned out to be and he knew exactly who was at fault. On the couch with a cheap bottle of whiskey he purchased that day that was nearly drained, he rested his arm gently on Seymour who had yet to leave his side. Lately, it seemed only Seymour was on his side. The werewolf managed to be at odds with nearly everyone in his life.
Resting upon the couch, eventually lifting his legs to lay down while Seymour rested his head upon his chest. Roman just stared up at the stained ceiling where the water marks were widening and darkening along his trailer. In fact, as he lifted his head just a little he could see the trash piling up, the empty bottles scattered all around every surface and the ashtray overflowing. When did living like this become okay? He questioned himself. When did living off alcohol, cheap processed food become the norm? There was a time he came home to a clean house with three children greeting him at the door and a beautiful wife fixing dinner for the family. Sometimes, it felt those years were merely a dream and never actually happened. He wasn’t supposed to end up like his old man, miserable and alone. Yet, here he was carrying on the cycle of the Baudelaire men.
Roman reached for the bottle, but instead of lifting it to his lips he merely stared down at the little bit left and sucked in a breath of air between his teeth. Despite his behavior, he truly hated that he had to have it. That alcohol had been ruling his life for two decades now. With all his might he placed the bottle down and stood up, his body shaking from his frailness as he headed towards the bedroom to find a number. He searched high and low for a number he had hidden from himself long ago and finally found it in a box filled with photographs of his family, his old unit and some of his medals he received for his bravery. As he lifted the white card up, he wondered if the number was still good and dialed it.
“Hello, you have reached Chad Locklear.”
Roman nearly broke down in tears hearing his old friend’s voice.
“Hey brother, it..it’s Roman.”
There was a moment of silence and the two started chatting as if hardly any time passed between them. Eventually, Roman finally admitted he had a problem. Something Chad had told him a long time ago and tried to get him help before everything fell apart.
“I need help.”
As the two spoke, catching up on a few things and Roman talking about what had happened recently. His friend had been working on finding him a spot in a rehab to specifically help veterans with addiction.
“I owe you man. I’ll see you in a few.”
Right now, he had no idea what he was going to tell Sofia. The two of them were not on solid ground since he decked Micah. Some part of him was sure she would finally leave his ass and in all fairness, he wouldn’t blame her. Hell, he didn’t blame anyone for not wanting to be part of his life, he had done everything in his power to damage every relationship he had.
When Sofia stepped inside, Roman had been on the couch waiting for her and it was obvious as he looked up with a serious expression upon his face and a small suitcase by his leg.
“Can we talk please?” He asked, knowing Chad would be there in about an hour or so.
